| I was/am in the same sort of situation. I work with a few women who take amazing photos and decided to ask them if they would be willing to do it for me and if so how much they would want to be paid. The lady who is going to do it showed me some of her pictures, her camera, explained to me what she can and can't do then we talked together about how much she should get out of it. In the end, she said she would do it for $100- that includes her gas/travel, the memory card that she is going to buy (and will give to me after) and the time she will spend taking pictures. I personally thought that was an amazing deal and I'm honestly not sure I would pay much more than that for pictures that aren't professional and that have no guarantee of coming out decently or a refund policy. That being said, I think you should discuss it with him and see what he says, but I'd probably go with a price range of one to two hundred dollars depending on time, quality and so on. |

| As already stated, you can watermark the images with the copyright notice. © yourname year (© john doe 2008). This is done by pressing the alt key and then 0169 on the numeric key pad. You can also add "all rights reserved" This may not keep anyone from copying and using your photo, but it puts them on notice that if they do there may be legal implications. Here is some accurate information on copyright laws and how to register your copyright, which you own the second you press the shutter button. www.copyright.gov/ Also, resize your image down to 1500X 1500 ppi, then save for web, they will still display fine on the web, but if someone tries to download and print them out, they won't get very good results. Just don't put full resolution images on the web! There are no laws preventing you from taking pictures of buildings, pets, livestock, ect, as long you are not trespassing. However, it is always best to ask permission, that way those guards, know what you are doing and should leave you alone, if not you will have management to back you up, and then he is the one in the hot seat! But just to be safe check your local laws on this as it does vary. One final thing, the only real way to prevent someone from downloading your images of the web and using them without permission, is to not post any on the web! I know thats no fun! |

| Well Walgreens dropped the ball. What should have happened, when you told them you took them, is that they should have made you fill out a form, and then handed you the pics. The form says that you took the shots. I get mine printed at Sam's club. I had to fill out the form there, and they keep it on file for future visits. I would ask to speak to the manager. | The pictures are not bad but they must tell the story better. I lack deep in some pictures for ex The future and Cloud Candy. Castle in the mist needs to be more compressed and needs more work at photoshop. And you must dare to go closer or edit harder. Peptalk is a good example of that. The story is boy in front of the big water grabbing fathers hand while mother peptalks. Cut away the people around. The story is in the middle. The ghetto is taken to far away and above. Imagine that you have taken the same pic from groundlevel. But some of the pictures are brilliant. I love the Lion. It has all the elements of catching a moment. And it rises questions. Is the dog angry or...? It also has a very comic touch. Also The fail attempt tells a good story but I would have moved a little bit closer and a bit more to the left. Conclusion. Not bad. But try to catch the moment, go closer and imagine try to see the pic from the future viewers eye already when taking the pic. And all work with editing the picture carefully pays off. Good Luck. |
